Improvements to grad employee healthcare are essential and affordable. The GEO will work with the administration with the hopes of providing better employee coverage:
According to surveys:
Less than a third of graduate employees are satisfied with the health insurance coverage provided by the University health insurance plan.
Nearly a third of graduate employees have foregone medical care because of cost or availability.
Prescriptions:
The University’s health insurance plan for graduate employees does not include a prescription drug plan, so members must absorb the full cost of all prescription drugs purchased outside the McKinley Health Center.
McKinley Health Center offers no out-of-pocket maximum cost for prescription drugs.
Graduate employees pay 50% of the cost of their health insurance premium for inadequate care.
